ABOUT MY MUSIC

Music is a deeply mystical enlivening experience for me that I can-not put into words. I am told my voice is unique and captivating and listeners are often surprised. Many listeners have told me they hear Celtic and Native Indian in my voice, usually more so when I chant Prayers or Sanskrit Mantras. (My ancestral heritage integrates: French; Dutch; German; English; American Indian and Irish)

My first recorded vocals and melodies is 53 continuous minutes of Sanskrit Mantras. Mystic Haze is a compilation of 11 songs of my vocals. Included are: 8 lyrics & melodies I composed; plus 2 Biblical Prayers with melodies I composed (being my version of The Lords Prayer and Jabez Prayer) plus 1 of lyrics and melody composed by my Mother back in late 1950 early 1960.

These songs are a response to various elated, blissful and emancipated moments. They are a fluid expression, like pouring liquid, glorious colors through me into existence. Some respond to changes of season and personal direction; unusual skies; and precious sacred experiences; others reflect moments of rapture and awe, when I was feeling deliciously vibrant. Some represent delightfully playful times.

Following that release; the 3rd recording of my vocals and melodies is 19 Baha’i Prayers of which I compiled under the Title: Pen of Glory. Each of these prayer/Songs poured out of me with no effort or intended compilation. Each flowed with sweetness; the melodies were just there as I was reading.

ABOUT MY WRITING

I was introduced to poetry, short stories and fairy tales at a very young age through a very worn red clothed hard covered book with gold lettering “A Childs Book of Verse.” This book provided my first most favorite poem Wynken, Blynken and Nod published 1889 authored by Eugene Fields an American Writer and Poet, which was put to music by Lucy Simon, the older sister of popular Singer Carly Simon. Recognizing the words when first hearing the song, about the age of 10, excitedly and fanatically, I marched up the stairs to locate the poem in my book.

Not long after, I happened to pick a narrow hard covered book, from my mother’s random books displayed in the family den where we sat in front of a wood burning fire place and an antique world globe. Taking the book out from the shelf, I perched myself onto a step of the inside stairs. Not knowing anything about the book, other than it captured my attention, curiously I opened to find words printed in poetic form. Intrigued, I flipped the book to inspect its cover title. “To Live Too Felt” enticed my inner domain, when upon I affirmed, I will live too felt, I will leave this world too felt, I will leave when fully used up. In those days of young I did not know what that silent affirmation meant or how it would develop throughout the varied stages of my life. I did not know I myself would produce poetry or any other concrete art form.
